How about that Super Bowl, huh? Many folks thought Beyonce's show was responsible for the power outage, but those of us in the know realize it was the giant sale over at TpT! I spent a LOT of time scoping out new clip artists (I'm pretty sure I made that title up...), and I found so many talented people. I'll be showcasing some of their work on upcoming freebies. On to the math subject at hand, which tonight happens to be fractions. Have you ever had this happen? The question asks for students to write the fraction for the part of a cake that's eaten (unshaded part) and they write the fraction for the part that's left (shaded part)? Of course you have! And what do we always say--"If they'd only READ the problem...". Hmmmm, could it be that the only thing we've ever asked them to do for fractions is to find the shaded part? A fraction, like any other number, can be decomposed in many ways, and it's important that students see lots of different representations for fractions. So tonight's freebie is a scoot game (I'm kinda into those right now...), and it makes kiddos really concentrate on what the question is asking them to find. Click here to grab your copy.
