Math Poetry

Are the kiddos getting a little restless?  Try math poetry!  Now trust me, I am not a poet, but formulaic poetry such as haikus, diamonte, and cinquains make it look easy, and they work for whatever math concept you are studying.  Click here for a little sheet that shows different types of poems and includes the examples you see below.

Another favorite poem activity that's a particular favorite of mine is based on The Important Book.  This can be used as an end-of-the-year project, but it's also a great culminating activity for a unit or it can be used as a review for state testing! Check it out here.

  1. This is a beautiful example of how the various subjects can be woven together, and connections can be made. Thanks for posting.

    1. My pleasure, Jessica! Math is all about patterns, so what better connection than poetry. :)
